Welcome New Board Members 2025

DATE & TIME

August 4th, 2025

LOCATION
Board Members Page

Caldera is proud to announce the appointment of four dynamic new board members whose careers span creative leadership, philanthropy, civic innovation, and sustainability. Their collective expertise strengthens Caldera’s position as a national model for creative youth development—and signals bold momentum as the organization approaches and prepares for its 30th anniversary.

Joining the board are:

Kaberi Banerjee Murthy, a nationally recognized philanthropic strategist and former Director of Programs at Meyer Memorial Trust, with a career focused on equity, access, and systems-level change.

Matthew Claudel, an MIT-trained civic innovation expert, author, and founder of Field States, whose work at the intersection of urban design and public imagination is shaping the future of equitable cities.

Casey Delaney, SVP of Financial Operations at Equilibrium, who brings deep expertise in sustainability finance and a passion for values-driven leadership.

Jae Goodman, a celebrated creative force and Chair of Effie Worldwide, known for his leadership at Wieden+Kennedy, CAA, and now as CEO of Superconnector Studios. Goodman’s appointment underscores his continued investment in Oregon’s creative landscape and belief in the arts as a force for community transformation.

“As we enter a new chapter, it’s vital we center not only creative expression—but the systems that make it possible,” said Kimberly Howard Wade, Caldera’s Executive Director. “Our new members embody that blend of vision, integrity, and creative rigor. Their leadership will help us carry Caldera's vision forward with impact.”

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Caldera board members cycling off this July, including Oregon philanthropist Priscilla Bernard Wieden and Bill Davenport, former partner at Wieden+Kennedy and retired Senior Director of Global Integrated Production at Apple’s Marcom. We’re proud to share that Priscilla will continue her commitment to Caldera by joining our Emeritus Board.

As co-chairs, Priscilla and Bill's leadership has been transformative in helping shape a strong foundation for Caldera’s next chapter. Their vision, thoughtful guidance, and deep belief in our mission have positioned us to grow boldly and intentionally. We are truly grateful for their heart, insight, and dedication to Oregon youth.

Looking ahead, we welcome incoming Chair Kate Merrill (Prosper Portland, Metals and Machinery Industry Liaison) and Vice Chair Marc Patrick (former Vice President of North American Brand Creative at Nike). This new board leadership reflects Caldera’s momentum and readiness to scale its reach, deepen partnerships, and respond to the rising needs of youth across Oregon.

As mental health challenges, economic disparities, and limited access to nature continue to impact BIPOC and low-income youth, Caldera is expanding its programming to meet the moment. With more than 15,000 learners served since 1996, with 72% identifying as BIPOC, Caldera continues to be a national leader in connecting youth to creative opportunity, mentorship, and the natural world.‍

The future is calling and Caldera is ready.‍

Want to be part of what’s next? Join our mailing list to stay inspired or donate today to help us reach even more Oregon youth through creativity and connection.‍

Founded in 1996 by Dan Wieden and his family, Caldera is based in Portland and Central Oregon and serves youth from historically underserved and rural communities through year-round, tuition-free programs in arts, nature, and personal development.
