Since August, the Caldera leadership team has been working hard to sensitively and substantively address the impact of these devastating reports.
Foremost, we take the wellbeing and safety of all program participants, personnel and our extended community very seriously. Work is well underway to ensure Caldera is doing everything possible to protect our community, and these efforts will continue into early 2026. This work is multifaceted — including creating pathways to support affected colleagues, examining internal policies and practices, and proceeding with programs that carry on our creative mission and purpose.
Because this summer’s incidents did not involve youth campers / young learners, our first immediate priority was to support our colleagues while respecting privacy, cooperating with subsequent law enforcement investigations and - in addition to disseminating our public statement- directly reassuring families.
We have earnestly discussed and intentionally acted with care in communicating about these events – the last thing we want to do is create distress. Our team is available to answer questions and hear your ideas. We are grateful for your concern, support and understanding.

We remain dedicated to authentically serving the communities we are part of and deeply cherish.
While none of the alleged conduct involved youth campers, we have provided resources to empower youth and families in making safe choices and reporting anything that feels uncomfortable or unwelcome conduct. If you have questions or would like access to these resources, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your attention, care, and shared commitment to our extended community.
